The Government is providing tax incentives for investing in own solar power system as follows:
100% Capital Allowance (CA)
The total investment of Solar CAPEX is fully claimable under CA; the entire amount is deductible from taxable income.
60% Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) for Solar CAPEX
On top of CA, eligible companies can enjoy 60% GITA on approved solar capital expenses, further reducing tax liability. Application is open until 31 December 2026
100% Green Investment Tax Allowance (GITA) – Battery Energy Storage (BESS)
For projects with battery storage, the incentive is 100% allowance on BESS costs. Application is open until 31 December 2026
With these incentives, the effective payback period becomes significantly shorter. Free Power offers complementary service to submit GITA application on behalf of the Client to MGTC. Approval of GITA is subject to eligibility review by MGTC. Client is advised to consult its tax agent for actual tax computation.

Solar ATAP is a government-approved programme that lets you install solar panels on your roof and use the electricity you generate to reduce your TNB bill. Any extra energy you produce can be exported to the grid for credit. In simple terms, it helps you turn sunlight into monthly electricity savings.
When your solar system produces electricity, your home or business uses it first, which means you buy less power from TNB. If you produce more than you use, the extra energy is sent to the grid and you get bill credits. This directly reduces how much you pay every month.
Yes. Solar ATAP does not replace TNB completely. You will still use electricity from the grid at night or during cloudy days, but your bill will be much lower because solar already covers part of your daytime usage.
Yes. It works for residential homes as well as commercial and industrial buildings. Homes benefit from lower monthly bills, while businesses benefit even more because they usually consume more electricity during daytime when solar production is highest.
